A hands-on museum for the whole family
On 20 January 2010, Bavaria's Minister of Science, Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, opened the State Textile and Industry Museum in Augsburg (tim). It focuses on people whose lives were radically changed by the industrial age. Visitors can learn about the eventful history of workers, influential entrepreneurs and bankers.
1,000 square metres
But the museum offers even more: the upper floor provides 1,000 square metres of space for special events. In addition to temporary exhibitions, the space is also suitable for corporate trade fairs, fashion shows, readings and concerts.
A high-quality, robust and flexible exhibition wall system was sought to meet these diverse requirements.
The decision was made in favour of Mila-wall, as it can be set up very quickly and is highly flexible thanks to a wide variety of connectors. Another decisive factor was the surrounding aluminium edge, which protects the wall elements, especially at the corners, during assembly and disassembly. The wall proved its worth during its first use in the large special exhibition "Reiz & Scham.
The 1,000 square metre room was divided into zones using the partition wall. The exhibition design was in the hands of Munich-based designer Erich Hackel. According to his specifications, the Mila-wall was assembled in just two days. After all, almost 200 wall elements were installed.
After painting, the joints between the individual wall sections are no longer visible. The resulting large, uniform surfaces highlight the exhibits very well.
Renovation of an exhibition
This time-lapse video clearly shows how quickly and easily the exhibition was converted and the museum redesigned. tim is also exemplary in terms of sustainability with Mila-wall: almost all wall elements and a total of over 75% of the elements are also being used in the new exhibition.
